Hey! Let's not let this thing die!
As we anxiously await housing information, has anyone new purchased tickets? I'm thinking of actually just arriving the 1st of April instead of earlier...but still not definite yet (obviously). And coming back July 31st instead of staying afterwards. I think by that time it might be nice to just go home. And plus, Dan was saying since there aren't really 'exams' for the classes, we'll be done like a week before the 31st anyway and would have that time to just do whatever. Also, I believe housing would end that day, so that's another thing to have to worry/think about then.
Also, if you've thought about it, how much luggage are you planning to bring? I really don't want to have a buttload to lug around but I'm not sure how to pack lightly for 4 whole months. At least it'll just be plain hot when we get there (right?) so we don't have to pack different seasonal clothing or anything. I also want to have enough space to be able to bring back gifts, souvenirs, clothing. Sigh this is going to give me a headache.

I was saying that for example, exams right now go until the 8th of february, but in my case (since I only have 1 class besides japanese) I am done on the 1st of february. So its quite likely that there will be some time after the 31st of July (not to mention classes at Uva will be starting up 3 weeks later).
As far as packing goes. Good luck, but I`ve been here since September and only brought along one suitcase. You really won`t miss as many clothes as you think you will. And besides, you only have to plan for one season.

And about flying, hmm..
When I contacted DK House about getting a place there, I was all "I'll be there March 25th" and they were all "We've noted your March 25th arrival" so it soooounds like they'd be willing to let us in before an actual month starts, or maybe that would be when they'd start the month and then kick me out on July 25th, haha.. hrm..
I don't know what's best to do! What does everyone else think? I think it'd still be way awesome to fly together somehow!
And for luggage.. yeah.. I don't wanna have to drag a bunch of stuff around for before when we actually get settled either.. but then again that's only a short amount of time compared to when we're actually going to be there.... but then again a lot of summer clothes can fit into a suitcase! My fellow cute shoe-loving aunt said she'd pay for the shipping to ship my shoes over, hahaaha.. And it might be easier just to ship souveniers and stuff like that back to America instead of trying to pack everything new into the suitcases..
hmmm... i already bought my tickets and all that.
i'll have to be in japan from 3/26 to 8/15. but, my cousins are still wavering on the whole, "let's tour japan with teresa!" thing, so i may actually be trapped in japan for an extra 2 weeks if they don't come.
i will definitely be bringing two suitcases. one is full of clothes and necessities for japan study. the other will be mostly empty and filled with gifts for whoever i need to gift. that way, i have a means to buy crap that i feel is necessary. i've already been to japan once before and gotten all my family presents then. heck, i still have leftovers so i doubt i'll be doing super amounts of shopping.
i don't know. i just don't look forward to lugging around two suitcases as soon as i arrive at narita, ya know? *shrug* you gotta do what ya gotta do i guess.
I haven't read everything but I just wanted to say... we have to get tickets together Natalie and Jen!!! Maybe we should get serious about it...

Oh. So you guys are the only ones that don't want to lug suitcases around the airport. When you get to the airport, there is a company who's logo is a blackcat and you can pay them a fee (maybe 20$) to deliver your bags to your residence so you don't have to take them on the train.

Alright, let's plan another day to chat though. I suppoooose I could go for March 25-August something. I've even seen some tickets under 900! But yeah, we'll have to act fast!
