Spitzer Schpitzer

So.

The wonderful Dr House emailed back and said bedding cancel equals OK! Except he was all, but is it okay that you'll sleep without bedding on a wooden-made bed? Aw he seems so concerned! And I'm good for moving in the 26th. Oh remind me guys, on top of buying bedding, I need to buy a laundry bag. I feel it will be useful for doing laundry and I don't have one already. Maybe we'll find a green tea colored one. Perfect!

Anyone been studying? Anyone? ...........

Oh! Pack bathing suits! Maybe we can go to a beach sometime...or something...I don't know what they do there. A pool? A water park? I got one for $10 today. Hahaha oh I love Target.

March 18th = Tornado Preparedness Day. Egad, we're gonna miss UVA's drill and not learn how to be prepared for a tornado.

So HOO'S EXCITED?!

Oh, I would like to take suggestions for a blog name! I seem to be behind in starting a blog...but really it's because I want to do something clever for the title and can't think of anything. But with a name like 'Doo' how hard could it be?!

And Dan is down for greeting us at the airport on the 26th! (Addressed to Greg and Natalie...) And I can't wait for our sleepover! Except I'll probably be just starting to pack the 24th...

This is a funny blog to check out: TokyoMango

I will reply for serious to your post in a while but...

I'm doing my visa app, did you guys put a guarantor in japan down or leave it blank? I can put my real guarantor down but.. her address is all in japanese XP

Jeannette said...

you can put your real guarantor down or you can put down the president of sophia university.

also, natalie, greg and jen, i know you all are flying together and arriving together but how will Teresa or I find you when we get to Japan. That is, can you guys post what rooms and such you're in when you get to DK?

also also, i'm sensing that the general consensus is that buying bedding is cheaper than renting. anyone up for shopping for bedding/touring the area when i get to tokyo on the 1st?

haha. i feel like people are somewhat confused on this, so i'll clear this up for my own benefit.

i'm flying from IAD to NRT on 3/25, arriving on 3/26 about 4:20pm or so. i'm staying at the ace inn shinjuku from 3/26 to 4/1.

jen jen, nari-tan, guu-kun, <--- new nick names if you have yet to notice *wink*

i'm on the same airplane as you three... ^^ 34H

jeannette! i don't have anywhere to be on 4/1 until 3pm, so depending on when you arrive, i'm basically open to taking you around.

la la la...

i hungry

Is it bad to constantly be on the blog... at work? ^^;;;

DK is so super nice, ne??? I was impressed. And their janglish is so cute too. Laundry bag sounds like a good idea! I have one already but do I want to pack it or just buy one there? The eternal question for every item...

I LOVE TARGET TOO!! Even though I've been trapped there for several hours at a time these past few months buying easter crap for work, I LOVE TARGET. They always have the cutest clothes for serious, and all their merchandise is awesome. Check out their super cute easter stuff XDDD I need Target coupons somehow...

I did the same thing with my blog x_x I think I finally just picked something bland but I haven't started blogging yet. How about.. JenDOOSJapan.. like.. does, only..pronounced wrong.. that's totally cool, yeah.. or it's like..you OWN japan.. and that's cool too i guess.

airport paarttyyyy...

jeannette, we should know all the hottest bedding joints by then! let's have a big UVA team bedding hunt XD woo!

if i'm the nari-tan...then what's a nari?

-nari-tan-

teresa said...

nari = na ta ri = minus the ta = nari

^^

hmmm... for jeannette is shall be... NETTO-chan
i could make up something cuter, but it's just so neato. if not NETTO-chan, then *drum rolls* jin-chan, likes jeans but way way shortened.

i still hungry. and, i still waiting for fed ex guy. bah! he better get here before i leave for my appt. stoopid delivery people.

oh yes! cell phone dilemma! GSM phones don't work in japan and renting costs a BUTTLOAD. buying or getting a prepaid phone requires an alien registration card that takes like a month to get. what to do?

skype? prepaid int'l cards?

My friend who studied abroad gave me her cell phone that she got while she was there and she says I can just reactivate it? I'll ask her the details on how she got it in the first place and how to do all that! Does Dan have a cell?

teresa said...

kk... more fun links:

we will ALL need that alien registration card seeing as how we'll be there for longer than 90 days. i found a place which lists all the wards and provides a map to the location. to apply for one, bring your passport and 2x 35mmx45mm pictures (i think passport-sized or so would work).

http://gmap.jp/shop-1742.html

also, i found another nice site that's actually for Hitachi employees from abroad but provides tons of good advice for all.

and, to jen jen:
DOO IT TO IT - Tokyo Style
DOOzo yoroshiku
DOOin' IT in TKY
DOO WHA!? DOO YOU?
skeeDOOdles

yeah, that's about all the creativity i have in me.

mia mia = mia mia or micchan
sehyun = ossan (last name = oh --> yields to the title of "old man/father")

i have like no nicky names, except for the self-developed ones of T and rei...

GIMME!!! XD

i check this blog wayyyyyy too much

Haha you all are awesome. Yeah, I put the president of Sophia down because he said we could and that makes me feel important.

We'll definitely let you know where we'll be at, Jeannette!

Hahaha that's awesome, Jendoosjapan actually did cross my mind...love Teresa's ideas too. Yay thanks!

Oh, for some reason I thought you were just on the same flight on the way home, Teresa! This is much more awesome! And you're just a few rows in front of us!

Dan does have a cell, but he actually bought one, with a plan and all, since he was gonna be there for a year. Prepaid would definitely be the way to go for us. And that's awesome your friend gave you her old one. My friend lent me his this past winter, and we just had to go to a Softbank place (depending on what company your phone is) and had them reactivate it and you buy a card and you can start using it! The reactivation's only necessary if it's been a while since it was last used...otherwise you can probably just buy a prepaid card and load the money on. Otherwise, prepaid phones (somewhat hard to find, I had to search around quite a bit) can be about $50.

And yeah, getting a gaijin card is one of the first thing's we'll probably have to do, though I'm pretty sure it doesn't take a month to get...I guess we'll see! I'm glad we'll all be in it together though!

Ah, tonight's Nightly Business Report just HAD to go on and on about how one dollar is now about 100 yen, the lowest it's been since 1995. Hooray for us!

Jen said...

Oh to follow up on my comment on the gaijin card not taking that long to get...
Dan: "Oh and tell teresa that the gaijin card takes like a whole 10 minutes to get. You fill out some forms and then get a temporay card on that day that can be used to get cell
phones, open bank accounts, buy hookers etc."

So there you go!

Haha and good, I'm glad no one's studying!! We're awesome!

natalie said...

well.. we won't be awesome for long!! I fully intend to put together a list of useful kanji and terms we'll need to know in our first few days there, like airport taxi bedding stuff. and I also fully intend to make us all study =P So there. (I can hear Greg's mouse clicking as he's changing his plane seat..)

teresa said...

ooooh YAY! thank you dan and jen for the clarification. i kind of got the temp card and the permy one confuzzled. ^^

ack, i super duper need to study soon.

Jen said...

Egad! Studying?! You only hear Greg's mouse clicking? Phew, thank goodness for my secret quiet mouse clicking.....

Oh Teresa, I was looking at your blog and the 'Lui' part of luiluau had me SO stumped. And then I had a revelation. I guess this is what happens when you let your brain take off for vacation for so long...

teresa said...

hahaha

jen jen... ><

when i ran for office back in high school, one of my more colorful *read experimenting * friends said that i should use that somehow in a campaign slogan. i didn't. but, it's still a fun ditty.

Muuurgh said...

oh my, there are a lot of comments here...... I'll read them um... soon. but for now, Jen... "The Doo Over(seas)".

Muuurgh said...

Here's what I came up with in the shower:

Do the Doo (sure you haven't heard THAT one before!)
Revved up like a Doo-ce (you know... "bliiinded by the light...")
(... I hate that song)
Doo-msday
Jen Doo-kes it Out
Doo-msday (haaa, doom-san)
Japan Re-Doo-ced

Muuurgh said...

I really want an awesome prepaid phone...

And HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOOOOOOOS been studying?

That's right. ME, suckers. What do you think I do when I substitute teach? TEACH? Ha! This past week (note that I've been subbing for three months, though) I've relearned (and have been taking steps to ACTUALLY solidify instead of cramming for the exams!) all of the kanji from... uh... 201-202. I mean, I'm sure you all know them really well... but as Natalie has so implied with the seat changing, I have a bad reputation with this stuff. But no longer(untilweactuallygetthere)!!!

I have one more week of subbing, so this week'll be spent learning 200-level vocabulary and going over grammar forms that I most likely will screw up.

It's like I didn't even TAKE 310.

- "Guu-kun" (sounds like something to accompany drooling, doesn't it...?)

natalie said...

Greg, none of those blog titles have anything to do with Jen going to Japan!! You just took word parts that could be replaced with doo..

She may as well just name it like.. Docter Doolittle or.. Doo-ling Banjos, I don't know, what the heck Greg =P

Muuurgh said...

Sax in the City only PARTIALLY has to do with Japan XD

Jen said...

Hahaha yeah Gregory. And I'm pretty sure I don't want to title it Doo-msday...I mean, it's so foreboding...and 'doo-ce' (deuce) is also like poo, so uh...thanks for the help...

Gah! You kids and your studying! This is such upsetting knowledge!

Muuurgh said...

what? deuce is "two"... you're thinking of "douche", Doom-san.
